| Greeting
from the Director |
I
am writing this prior to the Hog Roast in order to meet
press time. We contracted for 320 dinners for the Hog
Roast and
sold out! Wow, this is exciting! That sure is a lot of
hogs—to roast I mean. Look for pictures on the
bulletin board.
It
gives me great pleasure to announce Olivedale has
received $10,800 in grant monies for the construction of
a shelter house on the grounds. This was awarded from
the Fairfield County Foundation in response to the 2003
request of the board, spearheaded by member Jacque
Gray.
What
good are those membership badges anyway, you may ask (I
have). Evidently what started out years ago as the plan
to have your badge with you when at Olivedale has become
lax at various occasions, or for various individuals.
With all things considered, it is the only feasible way
to show you are an up-to-date member of Olivedale. Until
a better way is found, members expecting to reap the
benefits of Olivedale membership are reminded to have
their membership card while at the Center. It is your
identification as a current member and you will be
supporting consistency and fairness to all.

Rock
& Roll 50’s Style
Do you know “Love Letters In The Sand,” “Wake Up
Little Susie,” “Only You,” “Bye Bye Love,” or
“Do You Wanna Dance?” Do you remember The Drifters,
The Platters, Fats Domino, Nat King Cole and The Four
Tops? They were all hits and artists that made it big in
the 1950’s. Olivedale is having a 50’s dinner/ dance
October 23. In addition to great dance music, you
can request your song for Karaoke singing. All members
and their guests are welcome. Go ahead and wear your
peddle-pushers, skinny ties and saddle shoes if you
want. We bet there are even some poodle skirts still out
there. More details in October newsletter.
