Warm Water Exercise Pool Water Classes
Individuals with arthritis, pre- and post-joint replacement, spinal stenosis, herniated disc, should problems, diabetes, Parkinson’s, obesity and other physical impairments are excellent candidates for water exercise. All water exercise offers resistance with virtually no impact. We have classes for those who have difficulty with floor exercises and for those who simply want to increase their fitness and feel better. Water classes are scheduled for eight week sessions. Class size is limited and advance registration and pre-payment is required to reserve your place in the class. The pool is 86 to 88 degrees making it ideal for reducing both joint stress and muscle tension. No class requires participants to go underwater; and depending on confidence in the water, participant does not need to know how to swim. Floatation devices are available. The shallowest water is four feet deep and the deepest is five feet. Several open pool periods are available during the day for those who wish to relax and play or follow their own exercise routines.
The Wellness Center features a fitness room equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes, a rower, elliptical trainer, sit down elliptical, NuSteps, and Cybex weight machine. Each hour of exercise requires a ticket which can be purchased in books at the front desk. The tickets can also be used for open swim and the fitness classes.
A variety of floor exercise classes are offered: Dance Aerobics, Light Dance Aerobics, Silver Sneaker’s Clas- sic, Strength and Balance, Zumba Step/Toning, Yoga, Pilates Fit and Pound.
Our Wellness Coordinator can be available to assist members in choosing the type and level of exercise to fit their individual needs and to conduct equipment orientations.
